Indonesia’s stock market experienced a significant boost, adding Rp409 trillion ($22.7 billion) in market value over the past week, largely due to impressive performances from major banking stocks. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) saw a rise of 4.24%, closing at 6,175.5, while the overall market capitalization of the Indonesia Stock Exchange increased to Rp10,749 trillion ($598.2 billion).
This upward trend was primarily driven by the rising share prices of leading banks such as Bank Mandiri, Bank Central Asia, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia, which made substantial contributions to the benchmark index. Additionally, other significant corporations like Telkom Indonesia, Astra International, and Amman Mineral Internasional also played a role in supporting the market’s positive movement.
There was a marked increase in trading activity during this period, with the average daily trading value surging by more than 36%. Among individual stocks, Asia Sejahtera Mina (AGAR) stood out with a remarkable performance, climbing over 138%. This was followed by notable gains in other companies, including Prodia Diagnostic Line, First Media, and Multipolar Technology.
The impressive gains in the Indonesian stock market reflect a broader confidence in the economic prospects of the country, with investors showing renewed interest in the banking sector and other key industries. As trading activity continues to intensify, stakeholders remain optimistic about the potential for further growth and stability in the market.
